CSOTFA, California State Old Time Fiddler’s Association will increase the Annual Dues, January 1st, because of increased costs. The annual fee is $20 a year with additional $2 for each additional family member. As a nonprofit organization, Your Membership allows you to be a member of District 5, as well as CSOTFA.

Your Annual membership is due 1 year after your last renewal. Memberships can be purchased from our Membership Secretary; Mary McGown at our monthly jams. She mails you a reminder when your annual renewal is due and then sends you your new membership card after dues are paid.

Greetings.

As you may or may not know, the California State Old Time Fiddle association board of directors voted at its last board meeting to move the State Fiddle Contest from it’s long time home in Oroville, to Lodi, California. The contest will be held on Friday and Saturday April 12th and 13th, 2019 at the Lodi “Grape Festival” Fairgrounds, located at 413 East Lockeford Street, in Lodi.

The CSOTFA will be sharing the fairgrounds with the California Bluegrass Association, who are holding their spring camp out that week. The contest will be held in a separate building from where the CBA will be having their functions. The CBA does have a dinner on Saturday night and we hope to coordinate our respective schedules so that members of both organizations can have the opportunity to socialize. There is talk of including a contra dance.

The CBA has fully embraced the idea of having the state contest within walking distance from their camps and we expect that this will help increase attendance at the contest. Camping fees are $30 per night for recreation vehicles. There are a finite number of spaces with electricity on a first come first serve basis. Tents and vehicle camping is priced at $10 per night. Entrance into the contest is included with your camping fee.

Moving the contest to Lodi, or any new location presents some challenges. Not the least being funding. At the last board meeting in August it was decided that there again would be no admission charge to the contest.. However this endeavor costs around $15,000 to produce. We are currently working to secure local sponsors. In the mean time I am asking you all for your support to help in securing that this event is successful.

I am asking all of you to please donate whatever you can afford to help defray the cost of the contest. It doesn’t matter if is as little as five bucks. It all adds up. We are asking that you send your tax deductible donation to CSOFFA c/o, Mark Hogan 3980 Monika Ct., Sebastopol, California, 95472. If everyone gets on board this should provide us with the financial cushion we need this inaugural year.

Also if there are any of you who would like to help out in the run up to the contest by helping find sponsors and put up posters, etc. please contact me at either 707-479-5529 or at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

Thanks in advance for your support.
