Members of District 5, Old Time Fiddlers:

This is your 10-day notice of a short general membership meeting to be held as part of our Sun. Nov. 11 jam and holiday dinner at Orangevale Grange.

But the main item of business will be our annual pre-Thanksgiving feast accompanied by some of your favorite tunes played by the usual suspects.

Persons with last names beginning A to E, please bring desserts; F to L, hot side dishes, and M to Z, salads or bread.    The main course (turkey), other trimmings, coffee and eating utensils will be provided by the club.

Please bring your food by 12:30 p.m. so we can start eating between 1 and 2.    The Grange address is 5807 Walnut Ave., Orangevale.   Oh, if you can't bring eats, we ask you to donate $10 at the door.    Everyone is welcome - members or not.

The meeting is to nominate officers to serve in 2019.   If you have someone in mind, please get their concurrence.

As the date is Veterans Day, we'll salute those who served by playing and singing the service songs.   Words will be provided.    Bear in mind that this Nov. 11 will be the 100th anniversary of Armistice Day marking the end of World War I in 1918.  The Great War as it was called then was supposed to be the war that ended all wars.  Sadly that didn't happen.   Armistice Day now is recognized throughout the US as Veterans Day.

See you the 11th,  Doug
